Extravagance
I just committed two of the Seven Deadly Sins over the weekend, namely: Gluttony and Greed
Extracted from The Seven Deadly Sins Revealed:
So, I can foresee myself landing in Hades for those undesirable acts that I had committed. In order for my soul to be liberated and go to heaven after I die, I must say the magical word.
Amen.
Anyways, here's a timeline of what had happened to me over the weekend.
Thursday, 13th October 2005:
Watched "The Myth", starring Jackie Chan, with my mum (Movie ticket: SGD$8.00)
Dinner at Swenson's at Northpoint's outlet(Approximately SGD$20.00)
The service I received was lukewarm despite the fact that there wasn't many customers at that time. The waitress does not seem to be enthusiastic with her job. But the cashier was cheery though. Seems that Swenson's policy is money-minded-inclined. I'll smile only when you give me money.
Bought 2 CDs. James Blunt's "Back to Bedlam" and Relax One 轻松玩《我要轻松玩》(Total: SGD$38.80)
Saturday, 15th October 2005:
Lunch at Ding Tai Fung (鼎泰丰)restaurant, The Paragon outlet

小笼包! Xiao Long Baos!! The restaurant claims to have 18 folds on each bun. I counted and they lied! There were at least 21 folds on a bun that I randomly picked to test the reliability of the restaurant's bold claim. And I proved them wrong. ;)

Look at the Xiao Long bao in close-up! The soup that is enclosed within the parameters of the skin is so sweet! 果然名不虚传!!!

虾饺! Har Gow! I can't recall how the restaurant address them on the menu. But they are the same thing afterall.

Zoom-in to the har gow. Mouth-watering.

Fried ribs. No, they aren't burnt, just that my camera pre-installed on my phone has bad resolution and does not do justice to the actual thing. The meat is very tender and the meat simply melts in your mouth.

Look at the generous serving of prawns they have on a plate of fried rice. An ordinary dish, but they choose to make it extraordinary. A plus point for the dish is the freshness of every prawn lie buried in the rice. The prawns are succulent and they literally bounce on your taste buds. They have this "springy" texture and they just go "bo-ing, bo-ing" in your mouth, bouncing up and down like ping-pong balls. Not forgetting to mention the generous serving of egg as well.

Siew Mai! 烧卖!Yes, they are indeed Siew Mai so stopping rubbing your eyes lest your cornea falls out from your eye. The siew mais look cute, don't they?

An aerial view of siew mai. The orange thinggy is the prawn.

Voila! Have the prawn removed and this is what you would see!
Unfortunately, my camera phone didn't do much justice to all the food I had for lunch, so they may appear rather unappealing on screen. SO, just look at the photos and imagine them to be 237146989X better and you would more and less have an idea of how they would taste.
The restaurant had great service as well. Friendly waitress who would tell you if you use your UOB credit card, you would be entitled to a free bowl of Spicy and Sour Soup(酸辣汤), which unlike the name suggests, is neither spicy nor sour. A great let-down though. The food server would come up to your table with your food and they would appear in gloves and mask. For hygiene purposes apparently.
(Average cost per person: SGD$18.00)
After lunch, I went shopping with my parents and bought myself 4 pieces of new clothes. 3 from Topshop, 1 from Giordano. (Total cost: SGD $101)
Sunday, 16th October 2005:
Breakfast at Burger King. Enormous Omelette Sandwich, can't remember the exact name. SGD $5.70
I SPENT A GRAND TOTAL OF SGD$191.50 OVER THE WEEKEND!!
SINNED!
Anyways, here's a quick sum-up of all the restaurant and boutiques I visited.
Swenson's (Northpoint outlet):
Service: Waiters and waitresses did not seem to take pride in their work. But the cashier seems excited about collecting money. Overall: 6.5/10
Price: Swenson's is getting pricier. They would secretly change the appearance of the menu and sneakily edit the price tag. Overall: $$$$$$
Ding Tai Fung (The Paragon outlet):
Service: Good. Until when we decided to settle our bill, and here comes a muddle-headed waitress. She didn't even give my father a pen for him to sign on the receipt when he chose to settle the payment using credit card. Overall: 8/10
Price: Not as expensive as I had always assumed. Overall: $$$$
Giordano (Centrepoint's outlet):
Service: The moment I stepped in they would greet me with a genuine smile hung on their lips and a warm "hello". After I had tried on a piece of clothes, the salesgirl politely asked me if the clothes fit. I can't remember everything in detail, but all I know is I had received a good service. Overall: 9/10
Topshop (Wistma Atria's basement outlet):
Service: The salesman would tell me the promotion the shop is currently having, that is, $10 for the second tee. I was rather fickle-minded at that time, and was torn between choosing red or brown for one of the tee that I had fancied on. I kept troubling the salesman as I kept requesting to look at the designs of many tees that are laid nicely-folded on the shelves. But, he still remained very polite and patient. Overall: 9/10
Bossini (Centrepoint's outlet):
Service: Like the Giordano staff, they greeted me with a warm welcome the moment I stepped in and even though I didn't purchase anything from them, they still said, "Goodbye" to me. With a smile. 9/10 for their politeness.
Extracted from The Seven Deadly Sins Revealed:
Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.
So, I can foresee myself landing in Hades for those undesirable acts that I had committed. In order for my soul to be liberated and go to heaven after I die, I must say the magical word.
Amen.
