Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri
开斋节快乐!!!
Ok, so let's first talk about yesterday. Went with my SJAB squad mates to Nanhua Secondary. We had this stupid, retarded and super-ultra-boring Zone training session. Apparently we are the Guard of Honour for the Zone 7 presentation. So well, from 1 PM to 4PM, we were marching and marching and marching and did some real basic drills "Sediya" and "Se-nang diri" (pardon my Malay spelling) I mean, come on, we all have at least 2 years of experience in learning these drillls. Dont waste our time and insult our intelligence. Cause, spending 3 hours doing the same thing over and over again isnt very benefical to our footdrills at all. well, maybe not 3 hours, maybe ard 2 hours as in the last hour, we rehearsed for 3 times the whole procedure. Plus, the commanders themselves cant march well either, and their pronounciation of the commands is weird. Oh well, my I.Q. just dropped by 25 points. Anyways, we had some fun, laughter and giggles yesterday by poking fun at the various "mistakes" , "bloopers" and weird commands the commanders and cadets from other schools made. Not that we are looking down on them or teasing them, but just that the mistakes made are far too funny for one to resist laughing. Oh well, call us childish.. hehe...
Ok, next, after this IQ-reducing event ended, i joined my parents at Chinatown for dinner. we dined at 马兰拉面。 Well, i have heard of this "restaurant" before, and i assume that we are dining at some classy Chinese restaurant. but alas! the outlet is no better than a fast-food restaurant. All right, both ARE "restaurants", but hey! After hearing all those praises newspapers, radios and magazines had given, and after viewing their commercials, I've been fooled into thinking that this is some posh restaurant?!?!? they have succeeded in fooling me. Anyways, even the chairs and tables provided in McDonald's and KFC are like Z-th times better than theirs. (Note that i use "Z-th" and not "N-th") After i realised thta this isnt suppose to be some classy restaurant, but it is indeed a fast-food restaurant, after seeing the words "快餐" appearing on its signboard. oh well.
ok, so i had Shanghainese wanton noodles. great dumplings i must admit, with succulent prawns as fillings. But the soup base is, er, healthy. I can assure you that the soup base has no MSG or any artificial flavourings added. Natural.
Ok, ok, the soup base is bland.
But the chilli sauce provided, stored in a ceramic container that is placed on every table, is heavenly-good. No sarcasm, it's real good and fragant.
So my mum ordered a plate of fried rice while my dad ordered a bowl of Pork Ribs Noodles. All noodles are hand-made. So-so lah, i must say. i still prefer Japanese Ramen to Chinese hand-made noodles. so, the noodle dishes arrived shortly after we placed our orders, but my mum have to wait like nearly 45 minutes for her plate of friend rice. Same applies to some of our "neighbouring" diners who also ordered fried food.
All of us complained. But at least the waiters and manager were polite and apologetic. They kept assuring us that the food will be delievered soon. Good service at least, but the efficiency was..... below expectations.
Then, i went to Popular Majestic Bookstore, which is conveniently located above the restaurant. I bought 3 books (all comes with a 20% discount ;) ) , namely:
1. 世界地理
2. 拥抱幸福的自己 -- 吴若权
3. 遗失了一只猫 -- 几米
The first book is actually a mini-encyclopedia (sp?) of World Geography, in Chinese that is. So well, at least i now have the Chinese translation of some of world's famous landmarks and some geographic terms.
the other books belong to the "philosophical" genre, which most teenagers wouldnt enjoy. I know they prefer comics, or some other fantasies. Or, chinese martial novels.
That's all folks. Enjoy your long weekend!
