由F.I.R.

Movies and CDs

whoot!

went to watch "Taxi" alone (yeah, alone... quite pathetic right?) on Thursday and "The Forgotten" today with my dad. Both are fantastic movies. i'll give "Taxi" and "The Forgotten" each with a 4-stars rating! Well, there must always be some rooms for improvement, hence the missing star. I shant elaborate more on the plot or whatsoever regarding to movie. Go spend that $8.50 on the movie, or $17 if you are going to watch both. See for yourself. Seeing is believing.

Ok, so today quite contented loh. Went movie, dine at Swensen's and bought 2 CDs. oh cool! one is 六甲乐团 while the other is 香草恋人OST. initially thought that the latter wouldnt be found, but to my amazement, i manage to find it! And it is the last copy at Causeway Point's Music Junction outlet. hehe.

Ok, that's all liao. nothing much. maybe i'll crap a bit in chinese. see ya.

3D2N

You would have been fooled by the title if you presume that this entry is dedicated to my 3D2N Bangkok or Genting trip.

Unfortunately, i dont stand to enjoy such luxury.

Even if I had the chance, I would have chose Hong Kong.

Dream on.

Back to topic, as stated in previous entries, I went for my SJAB school camp. Yah, it's in school. Not Pulau Ubin. Despite this, we were scractching ourselves non-stop due to the fact that this is the rainy season and puddles of stagnant water can be found almost everywhere, giving mosquitoes some place to breed. Hence, nearly 55 hours of my time was spent in this mosquitoes-infested school. And having those creatures to insert their proboscis into your flesh and suck your blood can be rather annoying. furthermore, no one would like himself to be seen scratching all over his body by someone else.

Okay, so throughout these 55 hours, I:

1. Played ping-pong

2. Played MONOPOLY

3. Played UNO cards (Happy Anniversary version)

4. Played RISK (from 11 pm till 3:30 AM the next day)

okay, apart from playing, i also did some "politically-correct" and "morally-correct" work, like settle some of my unfinished SJAB admin work.

And I also ran 2.4 KM with Kai Herng.

Slept only like 13 hours in all throughout the entire camp. Well, some may find this amount "Ok-what", but for a person like me who catches at least 8 hours of sleep daily, sleeping only 13 hours is less than half of my usual "sleeping-hours".

Well, I shant point the finger at anyone because I was at fault. I shouldnt have played "RISK" in the wee hours of the night, forsaking my sleeping hours. Precious sleeping hours.

Anyway, speaking of "RISK", all the players were pretty annoyed and irritated by Ying jie's constant talking/yakking/bullshitting/crapping/whining/laming. I cant even think of a suitable adjective for his behaviour. his mouth just cannot be kept shut. He LOVES talking. I wonder if is there such medical condition that causes people to talk non-stop. I mean, if whatever that comes out from his mouth went to his brain before, I wouldnt have mind. But the thing is, he thinks with his mouth, not his brain. So whatever he says are basically, crap. To sum it up: Empty vessel makes the most noise.

Enough about me. Let's talk more about the camp itself. I would personally declare this cap as a "leisure camp", for the sec 1s, that is, due to the fact that they get to watch 2 1/4 movies in this camp. "The Phone", worst Asian horror movie which isnt scary at all, "Evolution" and 1/4 of "The Exorcist", which was interrupted halfway because the beginning of the movie was too draggy and boring for the audience, or rather, the NCOs. I mean, how can a movie be interesting without any dialouges at all? Also, during the screening of the movies, they get to eat potato chips, popcorns and jelly. Not bad, considering that this is supposedly to be a "training camp", and not a "leisure camp". Well, I am at fault for tis because, erm, yah, I bought those tidbits for them. See, I am angelic.

All right, I guess i have to stop here. shouldnt bore you guys anymore. bye.

Back

Ok, after 3 days and 2 nights of a _______ camp, i am finally back to civilisation. ;) fill in the blank with a suitable adjective yourself, base on your knowledge of our camp or your vocabulary.

Now, I shall revealed the answers to the riddles I posted previously.

Which letter of the English alphabet will beat up a rabbit?

Answer: "S" . Because SKII (the beauty product). why? "S" K II (2 sounds like rabbit in Chinese, and "K" means "to hit" in Taiwan)

Because in 周杰伦 《七里香〉,got one part of lyrics: “秋刀鱼的滋味,猫跟你都想了解。。。”

In S.H.E. 〈候鸟〉,got one part of the lyrics: “你的爱飞很远,像候鸟看不见。。。”

What is the first caged animal you will see in a zoo?

Ticket-seller

Because hip-hop song always got "Yo! Yo!

Ok, as some of you might have known, I will be away for my SJAB camp from 22nd to the 24th.

during my absence, let me keep you entertained with some “陈水问答题” Qns 1, 4, 5 and 6 are plagiarised though. ;)

Yesterday & The Day Before Yesterday

okay, quick update on my whereabouts for these two days.

so on friday, last SJAB training, excluding the camp that is. jeremy and "meng and kay siong" had some grudges against each other. then, jeremy shouted at me for no rhyme or reason when i was kindly telling him how to deliver a message across effectively and efficiently. he said something like "i am not the commander" or something. for more information, check my previous entry on a letter to him. ;)

if you think that such incident would affect my mood for the day, you are absolutely wrong. after training, ming wei, jie xun, job, kenneth, rui yang (yes RUI YANG!) and I went to KBox. then on our way there on the bus, we were like talking about our childhood. we talked about our classmates, the games we played with pri sch mates, canteen food, teachers and not forgetting, the once ppular cartoon characters like Power Rangers, Superman, Batman, Ultraman, Digimon, Tamagotchi...etc. Okay, i used et cetera because I dont know most of the characters they had mentioned. Fine, say that i have no childhood.

So at KBox, jie xunsuddenly became very high and strated singing songs after songs, back-to-back some more. Sang like 3 Jay Chou rapping songs and 3 Wong Lee-Hom songs at one go. thats not the usual him... hmmm...

Next day, we had the SJAB Zone 7 Annual Presentation. we had approximately 1 1/2 hours of rehearsal before the actual parade. that stupid officer, halim, said something like "Now is not the actual day, but actually today is the actual day, so save your energy for later. Now is just rehearsal". This may not be the exact quote, but he definitely said something to that extent. Grammactical errors aside, but just the logic of the statement is baffling enough already.

Guess what, the rehearsals were smooth. No mistakes were made. Until the actual parade, all our "true colours" were revealed. Arm swings became out, commands were given wrongly, everything became a MESS! oh well.

the nightmare wasnt over yet. later in the afternoon, we adjourned to the auditorium, only to be welcomed by more mediocrity. we had two emcees who speak with a very strong singlish accent. the chinese emcee wasnt that bad, but the english-speaking one was.... embarassing. His diction was bad, very bad actually. "Thank You" was pronounced as "tank-cute" , "Cecilia" was called "CeLILIA" and "Matthias" was hilariously mispronounced as "Mat-ti-ass" . Then, we had several Commisoners and Chief Commisoners with their speeches. Ok, due to the fact that they are old and elderly and had probably received less education or education of a lower quality, "i shall be nice and not say anything", as quoted from Dick Lee in a recent Singapore Idol episode.

worst of all, was the prize-giving ceremony. due to bad organisation and planning, all the trophies-winners received trophies that do not belong to them. The champion team received trophies originally meant for the 1st-runner up, yah, mistakes of such extent were committed. then, during the awarding of the commisioner badges, out of the 25 awardees, only 3 turned up, with the other 22 absent with reason. So, there was awakard silence during the reading out of names of those who didnt turn up. and when a present awardee finally responded, everyone in the auditorium gave him/her a VERY big round of applause. -_-"

oh well, jason, i know you hate reading entries with complaints and grumblings, sorry for that.

next, photo-taking, it was a lame one, with the girls at the back giggling non-stop and yakking about childish and immature stuff. definitely not the type that will capture my attention. oh well, should stop talking bad of girls.

then, about 10 of us went for movie. travelled to PS only to find that there werent enough tickets for the ten of us to sit together and hug each other during a terrifying scene. Yah, we wanna watched "Shutters". So in the end, we had "food-court dinner" there and travelled up north to J8 to catch the movie. It was, well, frightening. :p meng, kay siong, ming hao, rui yang, kai herng and i did cover our eyes at some parts of the film. as for the others, i presume they didthe same as well. ;) but it was afterall, a great terrifying production with a sensible plot.

ok, phew! this is what i call a "long post". gui rong, your "long posts" are incomparable to mine. hehe. ;)

Jeremy

最后,so what if you are not the camp commander?
(Look at the time of posting) ,

THE AMAZING..... TAGBOARD!!!

well, i've got two things to share/complain/whine/cheer/praise about.

good thing first, THE AMAZING RACE 6!!!!

oh my god, this season is sooooooo cool! first destination is ICELAND!!! oh my, so exotic!! so this season's contestants are all so , erm, lame, in my opinion. throughout their race, they kept making lame remarks. some were funny, and i am fine with that. some were like totally make no sense. well, interesting cast i must say, expect great episodes ahead! currently, i do not have any favourtie teams, but hated some contestants, like adam of "Adam & Rebecca: Formerly engaged" and Johnathan of "Johnathan & Victoria; Married Entreprenuers". these two guys are so rude to their girlfriends, lame and johnathan even WHINES!! oh sheesh! and erm, Gus of gus & Hera bathed himself with snow. that wasnt, erm, a very nice thing to do, especially in front of other teams and in front of the camera.

next, tagboard. fuc* lah! damn it. whoso lag? why so slow? why cant load? whats your problem!!?!?!?!!!?!?!!??!

The Answer (II)

Freeze them first. Take them out of the jugs and put the ice in the barrel. You will be able to tell which water came from which jug.

That's the answer to "Riddle You This (II)". Congrats, ying cheng, for getting this correct again.

16 November 2004

Riddle You This (II)

There are two plastic jugs filled with water. How could you put all of this water into a barrel, without using the jugs or any dividers, and still tell which water came from which jug?

Post your answers at the tagboard or by leaving a comment!

Plagiarism

The following stuff are plagiarised from someone else's blogs.

  • Some R-21 entertainment. Have fun.

  • IQ Test

  • Well, an IQ test site. Questions are rather similar to the EESIS test and the entrance test to MENSA. Good practice if you want to get into MENSA, like me :-) well, i must caution you not to get overly stress when attempting the questions. I couldnt figure out quite a few of them too, despite my intelligence of 172.. (hahaha. boasting time...) This set of questions is indeed a lot tougher than the actual entrance test. so fret not!

    Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

Ok, so let's first talk about yesterday. Went with my SJAB squad mates to Nanhua Secondary. We had this stupid, retarded and super-ultra-boring Zone training session. Apparently we are the Guard of Honour for the Zone 7 presentation. So well, from 1 PM to 4PM, we were marching and marching and marching and did some real basic drills "Sediya" and "Se-nang diri" (pardon my Malay spelling) I mean, come on, we all have at least 2 years of experience in learning these drillls. Dont waste our time and insult our intelligence. Cause, spending 3 hours doing the same thing over and over again isnt very benefical to our footdrills at all. well, maybe not 3 hours, maybe ard 2 hours as in the last hour, we rehearsed for 3 times the whole procedure. Plus, the commanders themselves cant march well either, and their pronounciation of the commands is weird. Oh well, my I.Q. just dropped by 25 points. Anyways, we had some fun, laughter and giggles yesterday by poking fun at the various "mistakes" , "bloopers" and weird commands the commanders and cadets from other schools made. Not that we are looking down on them or teasing them, but just that the mistakes made are far too funny for one to resist laughing. Oh well, call us childish.. hehe...

Ok, next, after this IQ-reducing event ended, i joined my parents at Chinatown for dinner. we dined at 马兰拉面。 Well, i have heard of this "restaurant" before, and i assume that we are dining at some classy Chinese restaurant. but alas! the outlet is no better than a fast-food restaurant. All right, both ARE "restaurants", but hey! After hearing all those praises newspapers, radios and magazines had given, and after viewing their commercials, I've been fooled into thinking that this is some posh restaurant?!?!? they have succeeded in fooling me. Anyways, even the chairs and tables provided in McDonald's and KFC are like Z-th times better than theirs. (Note that i use "Z-th" and not "N-th") After i realised thta this isnt suppose to be some classy restaurant, but it is indeed a fast-food restaurant, after seeing the words "快餐" appearing on its signboard. oh well.

ok, so i had Shanghainese wanton noodles. great dumplings i must admit, with succulent prawns as fillings. But the soup base is, er, healthy. I can assure you that the soup base has no MSG or any artificial flavourings added. Natural.

Ok, ok, the soup base is bland.

But the chilli sauce provided, stored in a ceramic container that is placed on every table, is heavenly-good. No sarcasm, it's real good and fragant.

So my mum ordered a plate of fried rice while my dad ordered a bowl of Pork Ribs Noodles. All noodles are hand-made. So-so lah, i must say. i still prefer Japanese Ramen to Chinese hand-made noodles. so, the noodle dishes arrived shortly after we placed our orders, but my mum have to wait like nearly 45 minutes for her plate of friend rice. Same applies to some of our "neighbouring" diners who also ordered fried food.

All of us complained. But at least the waiters and manager were polite and apologetic. They kept assuring us that the food will be delievered soon. Good service at least, but the efficiency was..... below expectations.

Then, i went to Popular Majestic Bookstore, which is conveniently located above the restaurant. I bought 3 books (all comes with a 20% discount ;) ) , namely:

The first book is actually a mini-encyclopedia (sp?) of World Geography, in Chinese that is. So well, at least i now have the Chinese translation of some of world's famous landmarks and some geographic terms.

the other books belong to the "philosophical" genre, which most teenagers wouldnt enjoy. I know they prefer comics, or some other fantasies. Or, chinese martial novels.

That's all folks. Enjoy your long weekend!

    New Name

    DAPHNE DEFEATED!

    HOO~RAY!!!!!!!

    SHE'S GONE!!! WOO-HOO~!!

I am glad that the 6 calls that I made for Olinda and 2 calls for Sylvester didnt go down to the drain.

    YES! I AM SO HAPPY!!!!

    11 November 2004

    Singapore Idol -- Asia Pop

    OH MY GOD!

I made like 4 calls for Olinda and 2 calls for Sylvester!

    That's $3.00 in total.

I think tonight's performance is the best as compared to the previous themes. Olinda delivered that 千言万语 so well! In some parts of her delivery, I find her voice resembles 彭佳慧, which is good because 彭佳慧 once performed as Teresa Teng in a theatre drama in Hong Kong. Her second song, orignally sang by Coco Lee, ROCKS! I mean, she's my favourite idol!!! Go Oli!

Next, Sylvester. A so-so performance of that David Tao song, but he surprised me with his rendition of Jay Chou's 安静。I mean, that delivery was like fantastic! Same case as Oli, at same part of this song, his voice resembles, not 彭佳慧 though, but Jay Chou himself. And i agree with Ken Lim, his pronounciation of words is better than Jay Chou himself. How ironic, but true!

Taufik...... very average lah. i mean, his singing is good, and has made the most improvement amongst the other contestants, but then he just doesnt "wow" me. He lacks the "Wow-factor" in my opinion.

Daphne.... oh dear. Her performance SUCKS BIG TIME TONIGHT! Her rendition of Tata Young's "I Believe" was so weak. No energy at all. It is supposedly an energetic song that most likely would be played in discos and pubs. But she made it sound as if this contest is a Karaoke-singing contest. And worst still, her 你要得爱 was TERRIBLE!!! i mean, she made a MESS out of that song. I bet the original singer, Penny Dai, must be hiding in some corners weeping right now after listening to her delivery. Initially I had high expectations for her as I find her style kinda similar to Penny Dai herself. But then, she totally disappointed me by making a mess out of the song!!! I hate her!

Moral of the story: VOTE FOR OLINDA AND SYLVESTER!!!!!!!

那,"New Game", "Save Game" 和 "Load Game" 的选项在哪儿?

    "Quit Game"

    Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia

You may have guessed it wrongly. Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is NOT the phobia of hippopotamus.

It is the fear of longggggggggggggg words.

You may or may not have heard of this: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

This is a Welsh town and its name translates as "The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave". It enjoys the title of the longest town name in United Kingdom. If you think that this 58-letter name is long, wait till you see this:

    Tetaumatawhakatangihangakoauaotamateaurehaeaturipukapi
    himaungahoronukupokaiwhenuaakitanarahu

This 92-letter town in New Zealand currently holds the title of the world's longest place name, recognised by the Guiness Book of Record. However,

Krungthep Mahanakhon Bovorn Ratanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokpop Noparatratchathani Burirom Udomratchanivet Mahasathan Amornpiman Avatarnsathit Sakkathattiyavisnukarmprasit

    One Night In Chalet

One Night In Chalet(On 3rd November 2004 with Ming wei, Kay Siong and Ying Cheng)

    One night in chalet
    One night in chalet

    Meng

    One night in chalet
    One night in chalet,

    One night in chalet 我玩MONOPOLY
One night in chalet 玩“天才Go Go Go!"

Bridge

    One night in chalet
    One night in chalet
