Crash NTU!

Since it's an off day for me today, and that the girls have to go back to school, and that they invited me to crash their lectures weeks ago, I decided to do so.

Woke up at 6:30AM. Took a train to Boon Lay!

After meeting Kia Hui at Boon Lay MRT Station, we took bus 179 (or was it 179A?) to school! On our way, we met Eunice Tok, who was from my Orientation Group in J1, who won the bet between me and her.

I betted $5 that she cannot keep her mouth shut for 10 minutes. She timed herself using a digital stopwatch. And I lost. Unbelievable.

Oops, bad shot!

Eunice Tok on the left..

And Kia Hui on the right!

This is what I wore.

In the end, I realised I was kinda overdressed. Most students wore tees, berms and flip-flops. And I am not talking about branded tees from AX or flip-flops from New Urban Male. I am seeing BMT company tees, school tees and brandless flip-flops that look like they were off the racks of a random pasar malam.

This is how my faculty looks like inside. Where students gather to gossip or rush through their assignments last minute before lectures.

Oops, I am in a photo again.

My first lecture at NTU is on...

Fucking boring... The lecturer basically teaches you how to perform searches on search engines. And the girls have got tutorial lessons on that, i.e. they actually have to carry out what's being taught in this lecture.

I got two pretty girls by my side for lecture! Jing Ting and Shi Yan.

Not forgetting Kia Hui, also a pretty girl.. Haha!

Lunch was at Canteen A, which was located quite a distance away from the School of Communications and Information. Canteen B was a closer option, but according to Shi Yan, "在 Can B 吃饭,吃了会生气!”

Apparently, Canteen B is non air-conditioned, stuffy, flithy and infested with styrofoam cutlery.

Canteen A!

Look at the crowd!

My half-eaten lunch, Unagi Don! $3.80

Ratings: 6/10
I still prefer the Unagi Don from Hwa Chong's canteen, which has ceased to exist with effect from this year.

My future school!

Reunion Dinner @ Grandma's Place!

Braised Duck

Fried Ngoh Hiang

Steamed "Sakura" Chicken

Curry Chicken -- Grandma Style! Best in Singapore! Satisfaction Guaranteed!

Lor Bak (Braised Pork)

Leeks (Eeks!)

What I wear for the new year shall dictate the fashion trend for 2009! Haha..

I'm feeling yellow and white!

Bought this tee shirt from a roadside stall at 花园街 in Hong Kong last March. Whether or not the shirt is authentically from Levi's is besides the point. What matters most is that I didn't realise my shirt has a "牛" printed on it when I bought it. I certainly didn't plan my style so ahead in time.

Went to 四马路观音庙 on 大年初一

It's so crowded that the relevant authorities have to employ the help of police to maintain order!

Interviews

I was reading through one of Samuel Ravi's blog entries on his two rounds of interview for his entrance to NUS Medicine.

Suddenly I felt scared.

It just dawned upon me that I have not done interviews for quite some time already, and now I am apprehensive about doing this thing that was once so familiar, this thing that I was once so confident about doing.

And knowing that you had done pretty well in previous interviews will only make you more nervous.

Okay, I was being partially delusional. But delete my experince with the group of PSC scholarship interviewers, I think I really did well in interviews.

As the new round of scholarship application begins for the 2008 'A'-Level graduates, I have to handle the stress and anxiety of interview preparation once again. This time round, I am gunning for the Nanyang Scholarship.

Only applying for one scholarship this time round. So it's either all or nothing for this year.

Relax. That's what people would advice me, and what I would advice people before they step into the interview room. Indeed, I was pretty relaxed and even walked into the interview room for the Prime Minister's Book Prize with absolutely zero hope and desire of winning the prestigious prize -- since I thought that competition would be really tough and I would have no chance in getting it at all -- but ironically, I became one of the four winners for my year.

Yet, when you want something so badly, you could hardly retain your composure.

I wanted the PSC scholarship pretty badly then. Okay, I admit. It was for the attractive salary package and the prestige that is attached with it -- the "Hey-I'm-a-PSC-scholar prestige. But isn't all these what people want from scholarships?

About $50,000. That's how much Nanyang Scholarship is worth.

I need to get this scholarship. I need it.
