31 December 2004

一年。新年。

"525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. 525,600 minutes - how do you measure, measure a year?..."

It definitely holds some truth in it.

Cliche”,but it is a fact!

Happy New Year!!!

Lucky

Singapore is real lucky.

What makes me say that?

Think about it: Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia are all affected by the recent earthquake that hits Asia. Only Singapore was spared.

There's not even a slightest hint of an earthquake going on in Singapore. Our buildings, skyscrapers and other forms of infrastructure still remain tall, strong and erected.

Maybe Christ decides to punish these people in those countries for not believing in him? I mean, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia are, by and large, made up of Buddhists and Muslims respectively. In terms of propotion according to the population, Singapore has more Christians than the other neighbouring countries.

I am not encouraging Christianity, cause I am a Taoist myself.

Hmm... for you to ponder. ;)

P.S. Woah, my 4th post in a day!

Which Singapore district suits you best?

NorthZone
YOU ARE A NORTH DISTRICT RESIDENT!
Very close to Malaysia. hmm. Very outgoing yet
interested in affairs not pertaining to you.

Which Singapore District SUITS YOU best?
brought to you by Quizilla

Very accurate. Geographically speaking, this is accurate because I live in Yishun. Also, I can be rather nosey in other people's business. ;)

Which school are you from?

acs
YOU ARE AN Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) BOY!
You are a sweet-natured person, though constantly
seeking attention and affirmation from your
peers. You are not very hard working...

Which Singapore School are YOU FROM?
brought to you by Quizilla

Somewhat accurate. I am from Chinese High. But, I had always feel that I am an atypical TCHS boy. And I ain't that hardworking too... ;)

Un-Merry X'Mas

No, I do not have any prejudice against this particular Christan event. Don't get yourself misleaded by my title.

I seriously don't understand what's the point of such spray. I mean, what comes out of that metal can of the size about a small can of Baygon is actually foam, and not actual snow. (If you were thinking of actual snow, dream on!) And, what's so fun of having foam on your body? Haven't they experience foam on their body before when they are bathing? Unless they are from some native tribes in China, Thailand or some other rural areas where they bathe only once or twice a year, but hell no! Those that buy such sprays are from Singapore! A developed nation where water and soap are easily accessible and affordable!!

For the sake of some who still may be baffled and still have no clue what am I talking about, my advice to you: Go out more often. What I am talking about is a Baygon-size can that sprays out foam when you push that "button". It is supposedly to be artificial snow to suit this festive season.

Worse still, these people like to spray such foam, not on their own body, but on others, be it someone they know or a stranger, they just spray at anyone within their sight. It gets pretty much irritating and annoying after a while when you get "targetted" like 3 or 4 times just by walking down along Orchard Road.

Some may argue that this is just for fun! But hell no! Please be considerate and sensitive towards the feelings of others. One man's meat is another man's poison. You may love such spray, but other might not appreciate it.

One even said "Merry Christmas" to me after spraying those alkaline foam on me. I seriously DO NOT appreciate you spraying foam on your body as a Chrisitmas gift. I would appreciate it more if you could give a an iPod Mini as present.

And, from the knowledge that we had accquired from our textbooks, I believe that such "invention" is environmentally-unfriendly. These sprays are of one-use only. Once you had finished spraying the contents, you dump them away. Those people whp buy these sprays DO NOT even bother to chuck the empty cans in a dustbin, they simply throw them on the floor, expecting the cleaners or sweepers to remove them away for them!!!

Besides creating more garbage, this kind of spray also emits various chemcials into the air evertime you spray it. I expect chloroflurocarbon (CFC) to ooze out of that hole on the can everytime you decide to "victimize" somebody. Well, these are just based on my knowledge and guesses, but common sense also tells you that such 3-for-$10 items won't be THAT envrionmentally-friendly. I mean, if the manaufacturer decides to be green, each spray would probably cost $10 instead of 3 or 4 of such for $10.

When I got back, I gave the craze of such sprays a thought and finally figured out why these environmentally-unfriendly inventions are selling like hot cakes.

We are only like a few hundred kilometres from the Equator, but thousands of miles away from the Artic circle.

We lack snow. We are a tropical country. No snow, no winter.

Hence, artificial snow is here to save the day!! Woo~hoo!!

Does Christmas necessary have to be associated with snow? Why must Christmas be "white"? I mean, if Christmas can only be celebrated if there is snow, then what happens to devoted Christians in Australia and South Africa? For those whose general knowledge sucks, Australia and South Africa are in the Southern Hemisphere where there isn't snow in December, but only "available" in sometime around June and July.

I have not read the Bible before, but i presume that Jesus Christ was not born in Siberia or Greenland. If I am not mistaken, his birthplace was Jerusalem? Correct me if I am wrong, but anyway, his birthplace is not any temperate countries where there is snow.

I presume that those who buy such sprays are desperate to experience snow, but still, if you want to get that experience, go to "Snow City" or Genting Highlands. Don't endanger our health or the environment!

Juvenile retards......(expected lah, I mean, those who buy such things are either uneducated or those who kept failing their studies.... so yah... no discrimination here!)

I dont really "friend" him.

Simply put, I dont friend him, he doesnt really friend me too. Period.

从我们当初的“Don't friend each other",到现在的我的这则entry,真是好笑。 。我想,Absence makes the heart grow fonder 这句话does hold some truth。

Bon Voyage. All the best to you!

Merry Christmas (Part One)

First Day of work + "Questions for me"

Okay, here's a quick one (well, not so quick, perhaps).

I sold only one item. Bao Chen sold 3. Wilson (from NCC, Bao chen's friend) sold one as well.

What are we selling?

We have got three items to promote, namely illuminated sunglasses, dog-tags and wrist bands

Our company has the exclusive rights in Singapore to sell these items. You can't find them elsewhere. (Serious, this is no advertising tactic). I know other stalls also sell those illuminated thinggies like Christmas caps and some kind of hand-held "lollipop"-like toy. These are USELESS. after this festive season, they will be so out-of-fashion. You can't really keep it for long.

However, what we are selling is FASHION. Something that can be worn even after this festive season. And I tell you, the illuminated sunglasses has attracted many's attention because of its dazzling light around the frame of the glasses. It's so cool! I didnt say that, many other who have walked past me said that. But yeah, many still haven't expressed interest in buying cause the "mood" isnt here yet. But it means that they will buy some time in the near future!!

Currently, we havent sold much. So, if you guys would like to see us in action, or to support us, or to take a sneak peak at such latest fashion, come on down today to Orchard between 6 to 11 PM.

Remember, if you buy these items from us, you will be one of the first in Singapore to create a stir in the fashion industry!!

P.S. I probably wouldnt be updating much due to my work. Hence, in the mean time, I would like to appeal to all of you to come down to Orchard to support me! Yay! Hahahaha.....

Also, as mentioned on my doodle-board, if you guys have any questions or inquries about me, myself and my personal life, feel free to leave them at my doodle-board or leave a comment to this post. I will soon be updating an entry about "The 50 Questions You Wanna Ask Terence". Hehe..

16 December 2004

Eggs

Finally! We had eggs!

No, this is not the english translation of my previous Chinese work.

Neither is this entry going to be about the supply of chicken eggs in Singapore. I am not that slow or lag to "update" you guys on that the supply of chicken eggs in Singapore has returned to normal.

I am talking about THIS egg:

It's an egg of a zebrafish.

Some might have already figured out what am I talking about. For the sake of those who don't, I am currently involved in an experiment, trying to find out whether traditional Chinese herbs have any stimulatory effects of zebrafish embryos.

Sounds cool, eh? I simply LOVE this project, because this experiement is not something obscure like other experiments involving DNA and genes and whatever molecules that baffle people with those god-knows-what-they-mean definitions and key terms. Ours is simple -- common Chinese herbs that many would have known about and zebrafishes. Never mind if you havent seen them before, here's a picture of it:

You just have to know that it's a type of fish that shares similar genome with us. Plus, it has similar optical, blood and kidney systems to that of humans (Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/1034366.stm )

All right, back to the topic of "we finally had eggs!"

For nearly 2 whole months, we were unable to get the fishes to spawn. The frustration of failing to get those beasts to breed had made us very disappointed, especially when we are totally out of schedule by like weeks and the report is supposed to be submitted soon for the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF). We lost hope. Totally.

But on Tuesday, we saw light.

You can easily guess the reactions and emotions on our faces when we were surprised by the 359 eggs laid by one tank of fishes. We prepared 4 tanks, but only one tank had sex I presume. Ok, that's crude, but whatever.

Oh, we need a minimum of 360 eggs for one set of experiment to be done. So, techinically, we were one short. But who cares?

Now just hope that for the remaining two weeks or so, we can complete as many rounds of experiemnts as possible.

Wish us luck.

Ditto

Maggi Mee!!

Featherweight

I just stood on the bathroom scale that I bought recently from Ikea. To my horror and disbelief, I tipped the scale at 57 kg.

WOW.

Before the December holidays, I weigh only 53 kg. Within only 5 weeks, I had put on 4 kilos.

My jaws dropped at the thought of this.

I used to put myself on various weight-gaining plans during the school holidays but to no avail. Hence, I was pretty satisfied with the results achieved.

However, I must admit that i have rather mixed feelings about my weight-gain. On one hand, I am delighted that I officially gained some weight and am not as skinny as before. On the other hand, it simply means that I have more mass and bulk that will hinder my progress of reaching that bar with my chin. That's right, pull-ups.

But luckily, I do not look fat. I gained weight, not a belly, which is good. I will kill myself if I ever look fat. Or rather, I think I'll never look fat. I've been having supper nearly every night, and yet I still enjoy a perfect figure. Oops, I sound like some spokeperson for TummiTrim. Anyways, those supper and 5 meals a day REALLY work, that is, if you want to gain weight like me. Back to the point where I never look fat. It must be my genes. Don't get jealous or worked up!

I'm now in a dilemma about my weight. Should I continue my weight-gaining plan, or should I stop eating supper from now onwards?

Never mind, let me finish my hor fun first.

华语Cool

F*ck you, As*h*le, cu*t, p*ssy, b*stard, sl*t ...

(For this question, initially my answer key had an error too. My initial answer was "Purity", but then i realised that "carat" is a measurement of WEIGHT for DIAMONDS, but PURITY for GOLD. )

Ok, finally found the winner of my recent quiz. Well i didnt want to update lest i push that quiz all the way down the page. so, anyways, congrats to nicholas wong for becoming the first ever "Brainiest Blog Viewer"!! hehe, he's only a sec 1 kid loh, so the other participants, its time to reflect. :-)

ok, a quick update on my life. on thursday, i went with my sec 1s to Orchid Country Club for a bowling competiton organised by TCHS NPCC unit. well, we obtained a pretty good score, i got 113 for the first game, but an awfully-bad score of 68 for the second. my cadet, jonathan, obtained 109 and 167 for the first and second game respectively. he's good at this, isnt it?

so, our team average score is 90. quite good i figured. we may be able to get into the next round, one more step closer to my vouchers .. hehe. $_$

on friday, which is yesterday, went KBOX with kay siong and ying cheng. i added two more "lame" badges to my current "collection" of two. heh. and i added more postcards to my current colleciton as well. in case you ddint know, my current hobby is to collect postcards. free ones that is. my collection now has at least 30 postcards... hmm. way to go man!

so today, went to NJC for an air rifle course. i did pretty well for the "practice", scoring 9, 9 and 10, but not so well for the actual "test", in which i obtained a total of 39 / 50. lost to aaron loh, he got 45 / 50. darn. but i felt that it was easy lah. almost all of us passed the course, except eugeen tan, my sec 1 loh. the rest obtained at least 23/50, he got only 13/50. btw, we need only 15 / 50 to pass. -_-" lame, i know, ask SJAB NHQ loh.

then after the course, a gang of 8 of us went bowling at Kovan. I topped the first game, with a score of 91, narrowly beating jie xun's score of 86 by 5 pinfalls. but, on the second game, dark horse wei qin emerged from nowhere to clinch the top spot with the score of 86? or was it 82? while i dropped to the second place with 65 pinfalls.

then afterwards we dined at Yoshinoya for lunch before heading back. Well, i didnt have high expectations for Yoshinoya, but Yoshinoya met my expectations anyways. The food is average, so-so. i'll give it, maybe, a 6 out of 10? but i am rather impressed with the service of the staff there. they were polite and lifted your spirits by greeting and welcoming you cheerfully in japanese. food ordered was served quickly as well. for that, i'll rate their service 9.5 / 10. 0.5 marks are deducted so that they will be motivated to continue to strive harder to earn that perfect 10.

ok, thats all folks. byee.
